Cádiz requested the “temporary suspension” of the Spanish Championship while waiting for the resolution of his appeal against an arbitration error that resulted in the goal of the 1-1 draw against Elche, for the 17th round.
In the game, played in January, Cádiz was leading by 1-0, a result that would take the team out of the relegation zone, when Ezequiel Ponce equalized in the 36th minute of the second half for Elche, in a move in which the Argentine striker was in a position to off-side.
The field referee validated the goal and the VAR booth did not alert the error, which opened a controversy between Cádiz, LaLiga (championship organizer) and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), responsible for arbitration.
The disciplinary bodies of the RFEF declared themselves incompetent in the face of the request to challenge the Cádiz match, which motivated the club to take the case this Wednesday to the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD).

The appeal was filed at the TAD against the decision of the RFEF bodies and asks for the “partial replay of the aforementioned game, with retroaction to the moment prior to the occurrence of the negligent performance of the arbitration team”.
Cádiz insists that it is “a manifest and serious material error, from which potentially irreparable damage derives” for the team.
In addition, the club asked for the “adoption of precautionary measures consisting of the temporary suspension of the First Division competition, until the effective resolution of the file by the competent bodies”.
Cádiz believes that only with the temporary suspension “will it be possible to avoid the aggravation of damage and losses until they become absolutely irreparable”.
The team, which was in the relegation zone at the time of the game against Elche, is now in 16th place in the table, two points above Valencia, the first team among those virtually relegated.
