In an act that has become common for the striped, a water arch greeted the aircraft at Quito’s Mariscal Sucre Airporthow many groups of fans came to welcome the team.

Júnior Sornoza walked through the corridors of the airport with the Recopa trophybefore receiving a standing ovation from the fans present at Tababela.

“We played under a lot of pressure and we did very well. We played our football, which is the most important thing. Everyone is happy that we beat a great rival and could bring the cup home,” said the reference of the striped team.

“Everything was impressive,” said Richard Schunke, another one of the club’s historical figures. “We are adding another title for the club. It is a very important achievement, and even more so to fight against a club with such a long history,” the central defender pointed out.
