Just FontaineFrench soccer legend and owner of the record for goals scored in a World Cupwith 13 goals in Sweden 1958, has passed away at the age of 89. His family has announced it like this on Wednesday.

Born in 1933 in Marrakech, in the former French Protectorate of Morocco. Fontaine was a classic center forward who along with Raymond Kopa, became the great figure of Reims in the 50’s and early 60’s.

Leading the French team, he starred in exciting clashes in the European Cup against Real Madrid, first with Kopa by his side and then with him in the white team.

Reims and Real Madrid starred in the 1959 European Cup final, with the whites winning 2-0, a championship in which Fontaine he was the top scorer with ten goals.

With the French team scored 30 goals in 21 games. His great feat was scoring 13 points during the 1958 world cup played in Sweden, an absolute record that remains unbroken 64 years later.
