The International Boxing Association has opened a case against countries boycotting the World Cup because of the Russians

The International Boxing Association (IBA) has launched a disciplinary case against the heads of several national federations. This was reported on the official website of the IBA.

It is noted that the proceedings will begin in relation to countries that have announced a boycott of the women’s and men’s world championships (WCH) in boxing in 2023 due to the admission of the Russian and Belarusian teams to the tournaments. Disciplinary proceedings were opened against the heads of the boxing national associations of the USA, Sweden, the Czech Republic and New Zealand.

It is clarified that these federations violated several articles of the IBA disciplinary and ethical code, including article 24 “Incitement to boycott competitions.” The states that have refused to compete also include Canada, Great Britain, Poland, Switzerland, Norway and Ukraine.

On October 5, the IBA allowed boxers from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions under the auspices of the organization. Athletes are allowed to compete under national flags, and if they win, the national anthem will be played.
