Forward Artem Dzyuba explained the reasons for leaving Zenit in the spring of 2022. He spoke about this in an interview with the Nobel YouTube channel.
Dzyuba said that his decision was influenced by the abundance of Brazilians in the club (at the moment, seven representatives of this country play for the team – approx. “Tapes.ru”). “In any case, I didn’t want to stay anymore. I understood that Zenit St. Petersburg was turning into Zenit Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. Clearly, now the Brazilian direction. I think this is wrong, ”the striker explained. He considered that the backbone of Russians should be in the Russian team. The football player added that at the same time he had no resentment against the team and he got on well with everyone.
On February 8, Dzyuba signed a contract with Lokomotiv. The agreement with the Moscow club is valid until the end of the 2022/2023 season. From August to November 2022, he played for the Turkish Adana Demirspor, from which he left because he did not receive enough playing time.
Dziuba was a Zenit player from 2015 to 2022. As part of the St. Petersburg club, he became a four-time champion of Russia.
