PSG’s Achraf Hakimi under investigation for alleged rape in France

The prosecutor’s office in Nanterre (Parisian outskirts) opened this Monday an investigation into the alleged rape of the Moroccan soccer player PSG Achraf Hakimi, indicated a source close to the case, confirming information provided by the newspaper The Parisian.

The investigation was opened after a 24-year-old accused the player of having recently raped her at his home, located in the city of Boulogne-Billancourt (outskirts of the French capital).

Contacted by AFPthe Public Ministry of Nanterre declined to comment on the case, regretting “the information already published” by some media, “which make the necessary investigations difficult to clarify the truth”.

According to the same source close to the case, the alleged victim appeared last Sunday at a police station in Val-de-Marne to report the rape, but did not file a complaint.

The Créteil prosecutor’s office opened an ex-officio investigation and transferred the case to Nanterre, to which Boulogne-Billancourt belongs, the city where the attack allegedly took place.

Contacted by AFPParis Saint-Germain did not react to the publication of this news.

The player, for his part, was present at the gala ceremony for the delivery of The Best awards, organized by Fifa in Paris on Monday night.

Achraf Hakimi was born in Madrid 24 years ago to Moroccan parents. He was revealed at Real Madrid and could have been a player for the national team of Spain, but ended up deciding to compete for Morocco, a team with which he won a historic fourth place in the last World Cup in Qatar.

The son of a maid and a street vendor who settled in Spain in the 1980s, Hakimi is married to Spanish actress Hiba Abouk.

He made his debut at Real Madrid under coach Zinedine Zidane, and then had spells at Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan before signing for PSG.
