Scientists have named the optimal amount of exercise per week to prolong life

Scientists say 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week is needed to prolong life.

American scientists have named the optimal amount of exercise per week to prolong life. The results of the study are cited by MindBodyGreen.

Scientists have stated that this requires 150 to 300 minutes of moderate activity per week, 75 to 150 minutes of intense activity per week, or an equivalent combination of both. As a moderate workout, they advised walking, cycling, or light gymnastics. The intense activities recommended by the researchers are cardio and running.

The scientists also suggested options for compiling weekly programs. For example, it could be 45 minutes of daily walking, or 20 minutes of walking every day and two more intense hour-long workouts per week, or high-intensity dance cardio programs five times a week for 40 minutes.

Previously, fitness expert Keith Hodges called the way to properly train at home. The specialist advises to consult a doctor and a professional trainer before starting self-study to reduce the risk of injury. To perform the exercises, according to her, you need to be barefoot or in sports shoes, but not in socks and not on sliding surfaces like carpet.
