Mbappé equals Cavani’s mark and becomes PSG’s all-time top scorer

Mbappé continues to make history. This Sunday, the star of Paris Saint Germain scored two goals in the 3-0 victory over Olympique de Marseille, for the 25th round of the French Championship. With the double, Mbappé reached the mark of 200 goals with the shirt of PSG, equaling the Uruguayan Edinson Cavani as the greatest scorer in the history of the French club.

After the match, Cristophe Galtier, PSG coach, praised Mbappé’s feat.

“We already expected Kyllian to break this record. He is, without a doubt, the best striker in the world because he plays with speed and everything he does, he does it quickly, with great intensity. He knows how to make his mark in big games, too. This is a sign of great players.”, said the coach, at a press conference.

In addition to the record for the club, the French striker reached 17 goals in the French Championship and isolated himself in the top scorer of the competition. Right behind are Jonathan David, from Lille, and Folarin Balogun, from Reims, with 15 goals.

At Paris Saint-Germain since July 2018, Mbappé has played 246 games for the French team and, in addition to 200 goals, has contributed 95 assists. For the club, the 24-year-old player is four times champion of the French Championship (2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020 and 2021-2022), in addition to having won the French Cup three times (2017-2018, 2019-2020 and 2020-2021) and the French Super Cup (2018-2019, 2019-2020 and 2020-2021) and, on two occasions, the French League Cup (2017-2018 and 2019-2020).
