Klebo wanted to arrange a meeting with the skiers after the proposal to reduce the participation of the Norwegians
Five-time Olympic champion Johannes Klebo reacted to the proposal of the German national team coach Peter Schlickenrieder to reduce the number of Norwegian skiers at the World Cup. His words are quoted by “Skiing”.
The athlete said that at the end of the season it is necessary to arrange a meeting with the participation of skiers from all countries to discuss this topic. He drew attention to the fact that the Norwegians are carefully selected at home starts to get into the national team. “Our best practices could help other teams develop,” Klebo summed up.
In December 2022, Germany coach Peter Schlickenrieder stated that skiing was becoming boring due to the dominance of the Norwegian team. In his opinion, no more than four athletes should compete from Norway.
At the World Championships held in Slovenia, Klebo won two golds and one silver. In total, the Norwegians won 12 awards in six disciplines that took place at the tournament.
