White says Volkanovski and Makhachev should fight one more fight before rematch
The head of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC), Dana White, announced the condition for a rematch between Russian Islam Makhachev and Australian Alexander Volkanovski. His words leads the official YouTube channel of the promotion.
White explained that Volkanovski would first fight Mexican fighter Yair Rodriguez. “Let’s see what will happen to Islam and who he will fight next. But the fight with Yair needs to be done. Then you can already arrange a rematch when they both have fights, ”said the president of the promotion.
On February 12, Makhachev defeated Volkanovski at UFC 284 by unanimous decision. He defended the organization’s lightweight title for the first time in October. The Australian was surprised that he was not recognized as the winner and demanded a rematch anytime anywhere.
