With a Brazilian goal, Betis beats Elche and approaches the Champions League qualification zone

This Friday, Betis beat Elche by 3-2, in a match valid for the 23rd round of the Spanish Championship, at the Manuel Martínez Valero stadium in Elche. Fidel and Lucas Boyé scored for the hosts, while Borja Iglesias, Juan Miranda and Brazilian Willian José scored for the Seville rival.

With the result, Betis remains in fifth place in Espanyol, now with 40 points, and is approaching the Champions League classification zone. On the other hand, Elche remains at the bottom of La Liga, with nine, and still has a long way to go to get rid of relegation. To give you an idea, Valencia, 19th, has 20 points and is still playing in the round.

The teams return to the field for the 24th round of the Spanish Championship next weekend. On Saturday, March 4, at 2:30 pm (Brasília time), Elche will visit Mallorca, at the Iberostar stadium, in Palma de Mallorca. On Sunday, at 5 pm, Betis will face Real Madridat the Benito Villamarín stadium in Seville.

The game

At 5 minutes of the first stage, Abner brought down Tete Morente, inside the area, with a step on the heel. At first, the referee ordered the game to continue, but after VAR’s recommendation to review the bid, the penalty was scored. In the collection, Fidel kicked with category to open the scoring for Elche.

Two minutes later, Lucas Boyé crossed the ball from outside the area and extended the advantage of the hosts.

In the second stage, at 11 minutes, Lisandro Magallán, from Elche, touched the ball with his hand, in a dangerous move by Betis, and ended up being expelled.

After the expulsion, Betis started to dominate the offensive actions of the game and, in the 19th minute, Ayoze Pérez was brought down in the area and saw the penalty being marked. In the collection, Borja Iglesias discounted for the visitors.

Right after, Juan Miranda crossed to Iglesias, who tried to slide, but couldn’t. The ball, however, hit the post and entered the goal, leaving everything the same.

Betis had another penalty scored in their favor, after the ball hit Enzo Roco’s hand inside the area. Iglesias, however, took a bad shot and Edgar Badia defended.

In addition, once again Betis had a penalty scored in their favor. This time, the Brazilian Willian José charged and gave final numbers to the match, putting the visitors at an advantage.
