Russian athletes were invited to take part in the Games of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance
Russian athletes were invited to take part in the 2023 Bolivarian Alliance Games. This was reported to TASS by the Ministry of Sports.
Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin said that the proposal to visit the international tournament was made by the Minister of People’s Power for Youth and Sports of Venezuela, Mervin Maldonado, as part of a working meeting. The politician stressed that the Games should give a new impetus to cooperation between countries.
The Games of the countries of the Bolivarian Alliance will be held from 21 to 29 April. They include competitions in 35 sports. About 3.5 thousand athletes from 11 countries are expected to take part in the tournament. The competition will be held for the first time in an open format with the invitation of the Russian team.
The Bolivarian Alliance is a trade and economic association of Latin American and Caribbean countries, created on December 14, 2004 at the initiative of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Cuban leader Fidel Castro. ALBA includes ten countries.
