ISU filed an appeal with CAS against RUSADA’s decision to find Valieva not guilty of doping
The International Skating Union (ISU) has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the disciplinary committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) to find figure skater Kamila Valieva not guilty of an anti-doping rule violation. This was reported on the website of the organization.
The ISU has stated that they will seek the disqualification of the athlete for a period at the discretion of the CAS starting December 25, 2021, as well as the annulment of all results during this period, including the confiscation of any medals, points and prizes. In addition, the verdict of the court should determine the final results of the team competition at the 2022 Olympics.
The ISU hoped that the case in court would be held without delay. The organization also emphasized that young age should not be the reason for the release of athletes from punishment for doping.

On February 21, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) filed an appeal with CAS. The organization called RUSADA’s conclusions incorrect and called for Valiyeva to be suspended for four years.
On January 13, RUSADA informed WADA that Valieva did not violate any anti-doping rules. At the same time, the skater was deprived of the gold of the Russian Championship-2022.
At the 2022 Games, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal with her participation. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. At the same time, CAS allowed Valieva to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
