The Bivol team said that the fight against Beterbiev could take place in June
Russian boxer Dmitry Bivol may fight compatriot Artur Beterbiev this summer. This was told to TASS in the athlete’s team.
“One option is to fight Beterbiev in June. But we are not sure that Artur will be ready by that date,” Bivol’s spokesperson shared. He added that there is also the possibility of a title defense against Britain’s Joshua Buatsi and a rematch against Mexican Saul Alvarez in September.
On January 29, Beterbiev defeated British Anthony Yarde by technical knockout in the eighth round. He defended three world titles in the light heavyweight category: according to the World Boxing Council (WBC), the International Boxing Federation (IBF) and the World Boxing Organization (WBO). In total, the Russian won 19 victories in his career and did not suffer a single defeat.
On the night of November 6, Bivol defeated Mexican Gilberto Ramirez by unanimous decision at a boxing evening in Abu Dhabi and defended his World Boxing Association (WBA) world title. In total, he has 21 wins and no losses.
