Vítor Pereira regrets wasted chances by Flamengo against Independiente del Valle

O Flamengo he was defeated by Independiente del Valle, from Ecuador, this Tuesday, in Quito. With the result, the cariocas need to reverse the score in the return duel of the Recopa Sul-Americana, in Rio de Janeiro.

Coach Vítor Pereira spoke about the match and lamented the wasted chances, especially in the first half.

“The game in the first half was more for us. We had two or three opportunities to score the goal. We tried to make some adjustments in the second half, but we conceded the goal from a set piece. we will get the result”, he said.

The Portuguese admitted that Del Valle created difficulties for Flamengo because he is more used to the high altitude, which impairs the physical performance of the players.

“Essentially the opponent. They manage to press. It’s not easy here. What we essentially did today was that the three most advanced men created chances to score the goal. We had chances”, he declared.

The second leg between the teams will take place next Tuesday, at Maracanã. Flamengo needs to win by two goals difference to keep the title. Before that, however, Rubro-Negro has the derby against Botafogo for the Carioca Championship, on Saturday. In the State, the team commanded by Vítor Pereira occupies the first place, with 20 points.
