Manchester City travel without De Bruyne to face RB Leipzig in the Champions League

This Tuesday, the manchester city released the list of players for the match against RB Leipzig, for the Round of 16 of the Champions League. Among the names, the absence of midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and defender Aymeric Laporte drew the fans’ attention to this Wednesday’s commitment.

The two players had been used by coach Pep Guardiola and participated in last Saturday’s match against Nottingham Forest, for English Championship. Defender Laporte participated in the 90 minutes and De Bruyne was substituted in the final minutes without an apparent injury.

Another name that was left out of the list was defender John Stones, who had not been used. The club did not report the reason for the absences, which appear to be just to spare the athletes.

The choice surprised fans, who mainly questioned the decision not to list the Belgian De Bruyne. The number 17 has been a fundamental part of the English team’s game creation and is the leader in assists in the current season of the Premier League.

Manchester City goes to Germany, this Wednesday, to face RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena, at 17h (from Brasilia). The match is valid for the round of 16 of the Champions League.
