Chelsea star Azpilicueta discharged after suffering concussion

O Chelsea announced that full-back César Azpilicueta has been discharged from hospital after suffering a concussion in a match against Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. In the bid, Selhou Mara set up a bicycle, but ended up hitting the Spaniard, who fell unconscious. The 33-year-old left the pitch conscious but wearing an oxygen mask.

On Sunday, Azpilicueta, who was in the hospital for observation, thanked him for the messages and support he received.

“Thank you all so much for the love and messages of support! My family and I would like to thank everyone who has taken care of me since yesterday’s incident. Now it’s time to recover. See you soon on the field!”, said the player on his social networks.

In a statement, Chelsea said they were “closely monitoring Cesar’s condition, adhering to the important concussion protocols in place to ensure his safety”.

After being discharged, the player attended Chelsea’s CT and accompanied the training of Graham Potter’s men, who return to the field next Sunday, at 10:30 am (Brasília time), at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, against Tottenham, for the 25th round of the Premier League.
