The IOC stressed that the decision on the admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympic Games has not yet been made
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has made a new statement on the admission of Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games. It is available on the organization’s website.
The IOC said that it was premature to discuss this issue, since the decision on the participation of athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport in the Games in Paris has not yet been made. “In none of the documents published by the IOC, you will find a mention of the Olympics for athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport,” the organization stressed.
The IOC added that it is about the possible admission of neutral athletes who will not be identified with their country and the National Olympic Committee (NOC), and will also comply with anti-doping rules. It is noted that the application of these conditions to team sports is currently being discussed.
At the end of January, it was reported that the IOC was considering the possibility of admitting Russians to the 2024 Games in a neutral status. Competitions in Paris should be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
