Klopp talks what Liverpool need to do to eliminate Real Madrid: “Two super matches”

That Tuesday, the Liverpool face the Real Madrid in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League. On the eve of the confrontation, coach Jurgen Klopp spoke about what his charges need to do to eliminate the current champion of the tournament. According to the commander, “two super starts” are needed.

“We have these two results and we hope to be able to build on that, but we need to play a super game, we need to play two super games, to be honest, to go through. I have no problem with that, because if you don’t play your best, you don’t have chance – Real Madrid don’t have to play their best and they still have a chance! That’s the difference. That’s very special. I can’t wait,” he said.

In the last Champions League final, Real beat the English, with a goal by Vinícius Júnior, by 1-0. with the mistakes made in defeat.

“This is that team, the competition and you can learn from them for sure. But that was six, eight months ago. Before that, we played there on the training ground and here in an empty stadium. Here, it was a 0-0 very good. -0, we let them work hard and that was good”, began the German commander.

“But this is now, same clubs, different teams, different times. There’s a story in recent years. One of us has always been in the final, at least that’s how it feels, and usually if you go to the final you have to send off us or them, this time we play against each other, let’s see who passes”, he added.

One of the changes compared to the 2022 final is the arrival of Darwin Núñez. Despite not having met the expectations of the fans, the Uruguayan is the team’s starter. However, the striker is doubtful for the match, after being substituted in the victory against Newcastle due to a shoulder injury.

“There is a chance, out of every possible scenario, other than it being absolutely nothing. We have to see how he can deal with the pain and then make a decision.”

The first game between Liverpool and Real Madrid will be this Tuesday, at 5 pm (Brasília time), at Anfield Stadium. The return game will be in Spain, at the Santiago Bernabeú, on the 15th, at the same time.
