Former player of the Russian national football team Alexander Kerzhakov spoke about the difficulties in adapting to the Cypriot club Karmiotissa. His words are quoted by TASS.
The specialist noted that it is unusual for him to communicate with the team in English. “There were the first installation, the first words before the game, during the break, after the match, the first press conference. It was all new, you had to get used to everything, ”Kerzhakov said, adding that in general there are no problems with communication. He explained that he had a positive impression of working with the club.
On February 8, Karmiotissa announced the appointment of Kerzhakov as head coach. The contract runs until the end of the 2022/2023 season with an option to extend. The Russian said that he set himself the task of winning every match and showing good football that the fans would like.
Kerzhakov is a three-time Russian champion with Zenit and the top scorer of the national team. After retiring in 2017, he coached the Tom and Nizhny Novgorod clubs, as well as the Russian youth team.
