Kanchelskis criticized Russian players for refusing to play in European clubs
Former Russian national team player and legendary Manchester United player Andrey Kanchelskis has criticized Russian athletes who refuse to play in European clubs. His words are quoted by RB Sport.
“The limit on legionnaires makes it possible for average Russian football players to get dream contracts and no longer think about football, goals – they don’t care,” Kanchelskis said. He expressed respect to three Russians playing in the European Championships: Monaco midfielder Alexander Golovin, Torino midfielder Alexei Miranchuk and Bristol City goalkeeper Nikita Khaikin.
Miranchuk moved to Torino on loan from Atalanta, with whom he signed a contract in 2020. Golovin has been playing for Monaco since 2018. Haykin signed an agreement with Bristol City in January 2023. The goalkeeper is also known for his performances for the Norwegian “Bodø-Glimt”.
On October 31 last year, Kanchelskis advised Krylia Sovetov midfielder Sergey Pinyaev to pay attention to European championships. “If he has suggestions, then he needs to quickly pack his bags and run to Europe by any means,” he urged.
