The clashes of the second phase of the Pre-Libertadores of America were defined at the end of this Thursday’s round. Boston River (URU), El Nacional (EQU) and Nacional (PAR) beat their first-round opponents in home-and-away matches to advance through the competition.
The next phase of the Libertadores will be played from next week, between the 21st and 23rd of February, and will feature the debut of the Brazilians Atlético-MG and Fortaleza. Those who advance, move on to the third preliminary round and fight for four places in the group stage.

This Thursday, Boston River secured the classification after beating Zamora away from home, by 1-0 (4-1, on aggregate). In the previous days, Ecuador’s El Nacional beat Nacional de Potosí, from Bolivia, by 3 to 1, and advanced to the second phase with an aggregate score of 9 to 2. Nacional from Paraguay was the first to qualify after defeating Sport Huncayo, from Peru, by 3 to 1 (4 to 3, on aggregate).
In this way, all teams in the second phase of the Pre-Libertadores knew their next opponents. The Uruguayan Boston River faces Huracán, from Argentina. El Nacional, from Ecuador, will face Colombian side Independiente Medellín. Nacional from Paraguay will face another Peruvian opponent, this time Sporting Cristal.
The Brazilians also already have clashes defined for their debut in the Copa Libertadores. Atlético-MG visits Carabobo in Venezuela, this Wednesday, for the first leg of the second phase. Also away from home, Fortaleza debuts against the Uruguayan Deportivo Maldonado, this Thursday.
