The prosthetist appreciated the prospects of Roman Kostomarov to return to the ice after amputation
Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov will be able to use modern walking prostheses in everyday life. This was announced by the chief prosthetist of the innovative German company OttoBock Andrey Nakonechny, his words are quoted by StarHit.
According to the expert, the level of prosthetics in Russia is now quite high, so the skater will be able to get on new “legs” after recovery.
“Full rehabilitation is always a relative question, but for a year it is definitely,” Nakonechny said.
The prosthetist noted that the return to the ice remains questionable for the skater. The level of stress that Kostomarov could endure at the end of 2022 will be unattainable, the source of the publication believes.
“If everyday life after prosthetics suffers to a lesser extent, then it is already more difficult to talk about returning to sports,” the expert added.
On February 16, Denis Protsenko, a doctor at a clinic in Kommunarka, reported a significant improvement in the figure skater’s condition. The specialist clarified that the 46-year-old athlete is beginning to recover the work of internal organs, and he has been breathing on his own for several days.
Before that, it became known that the figure skater had several operations to amputate limbs. According to Telegram channels 112 and MASH, Kostomarov’s left foot was amputated, as well as several fingers on both hands.
