The Minister of sports and tourism of Poland spoke about the readiness to blackmail the IOC because of the Russians
Polish Minister of Sports and Tourism Kamil Bortnichuk spoke about the country’s readiness to resort to blackmailing the International Olympic Committee (IOC) if Russian and Belarusian athletes are admitted to the 2024 Games. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“The boycott is, of course, the strongest card we have. We, the Poles, say that we should be potentially ready to apply this argument to consider such a scenario,” Bortnichuk said. He added that the Poles would resort to a boycott if all other actions were not accepted by the IOC.
Earlier, the IOC turned to a coalition of countries opposed to the admission of Russians to the 2024 Olympics, including Poland. The organization recommended not to sign a declaration against the participation of Russian athletes in the Paris Games. The head of the committee, Thomas Bach, also criticized the interference of politicians in the discussion of this issue.
The IOC is considering the possibility of admitting Russians to the 2024 Games in a neutral status, but a final decision on this issue has not yet been made. Competitions in Paris should be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
