Doctor Malinnikova called hypothermia a possible cause of Kostomarov’s serious condition
Virologist Elena Malinnikova named the possible causes of the serious condition of the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. Her words are reported by RIA Novosti.
“Each person has his own individual characteristics of infection tolerance, maybe it’s overexertion, hypothermia, and the body couldn’t cope,” the specialist suggested. She noted that even with a small infection, complications occur, so it is impossible to talk about the discovery of a particular virus in a skater.

The doctor said that the 46-year-old athlete is beginning to recover the work of internal organs, the athlete has been breathing on his own for several days.
Before that, it became known that the figure skater had several operations to amputate limbs. According to the Telegram channels “112” and Mash, Kostomarov’s left foot was amputated, as well as several fingers on both hands.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in association with influenza B. He was put on a ventilator and an oxygenator.
