Ecuadorian Emiliano Linares will defend the title of Budo Sento featherweight champion against Mexican Allan Ruiz this Friday, February 17, which would make Guayaquil the league champion for the third time.

Linares, who has not been on a UFC ticket since Dana White’s Contender Series program in September 2022, is focusing his full attention on this fight to get back on the winning track.

On Friday, golden bull Linares will claim his ninth professional mixed martial arts (MMA) victory at the Juan de la Barrera gym in Mexico City, the same venue where he won the 145-pound title in October 2021 via unanimous decision against Mexican Eddy Alexis Rosaldo, and where he defended in May 2022 with a strong knockout of local challenger Derian Calzada.

Australian Jack Jenkins ended his streak with a TKO in the third lap match of the Contender series, in Las Vegas, and took the contract to be part of the UFC roster. Jenkins made his UFC debut last Saturday with a unanimous decision win over American Don Shainis at UFC 284.

Linares vs. Ruiz will be the main event on the Budo Sento 13 card, which also features fights in two other disciplines: submission combat and budo striking (aka muay thai).

The program starts at 18:00 local time (19:00 Ecuadorian time).
