UFC champion Makhachev said that Nurmagomedov did not congratulate him on his victory over Volkanovski
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Islam Makhachev, in an interview with the Novosti Dagestan YouTube channel, spoke about a conversation with former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov after defeating Australian Alexander Volkanovski.
The athlete said that Nurmagomedov conducted an analysis of the fight with him. “Khabib is the son of his father Abdulmanap, the same blood. As Abdulmanap always did: he didn’t congratulate me – he noted the pluses and told where he could improve. It’s the same with Khabib,” he stressed.

On February 12, Makhachev defeated Volkanovski at UFC 284 by unanimous decision. He defended the organization’s lightweight title for the first time. In total, in his professional career, the Russian won 24 victories and suffered one defeat. He is ranked second in the ranking of the best fighters in the UFC.
Nurmagomedov is a former UFC lightweight champion. He defended the title three times, after which he retired. The athlete won 29 victories in 29 professional fights under the rules of MMA.
Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov died in July 2020 due to complications caused by a coronavirus infection.
