New signage in the ports of Bizkaia for the Tour de France

The Provincial Council of Bizkaia has begun to install the new information signs for cyclists in the mountain passes of the regional road network. And this same Wednesday it has been placed in the unbe high the first of the signs that will identify the passage of the Tour de France through the territory and that have a special design in yellow and with the logo of the Tour.

In total, the regional entity is going to place 340 signs in the 47 mountain passes of the regional road network of Bizkaia over the next few weeks, so that people who practice this sport know the main characteristics of the ascents they carry out.

The signs will be easily identifiable by their red color, except in the case of the six ports that will be ascended in the stages of the Tour de France that will take place on the roads of Bizkaia in the Grand Depart Pays Basque 2023.

These are specifically the following increases:

Stage 1 (Bilbao – Bilbao): to Unbe by Laukiz, to Saint Pelaius from Bakio, to Aretxabalgane from Morga, and to Nursery by the rooster

Stage 3 (Amorebieta-Etxano – Baiona): to trabakua by Berriz now Mereludi (Milloi) by Markina-Xemein.

The signs will be located at the beginning of the pass and at the top showing the main data of the ascent: length, altitude at its highest point, difference in altitude, average slope and maximum slope.

In addition, these signs at the beginning and end of each ascent will be complemented by kilometer markers that indicate the remaining distance to the top and the average slope of the corresponding kilometer.
