UFC champion Makhachev called inflated news about the drip before the fight with Volkanovski
Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Islam Makhachev responded to claims about the use of a drip before the fight with Australian Alexander Volkanovski. He spoke about this in an interview with the Novosti Dagestan YouTube channel.
Makhachev called the topic overblown. “We have experts who work with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) – this is the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA). I was checked four times before and after the fight, ”said the Russian and noted that there were no claims against him from the organizations. He added that the bruise on his hand, which began to be discussed, appeared due to a blood draw by the commission in Australia on the week of the fight.
On February 13, New Zealand fighter Dan Hooker revealed that Makhachev went to doctors in Australia to get a drip for dehydration after a weight race, which is against UFC rules. Alexander Volkanovski expressed the same claims against the Russian. The Makhachev team called the accusations complete nonsense.
