According to the source, Ovechkin Sr. was hospitalized on January 10 with an exacerbation of a dissecting aneurysm. During the examination, a 71-year-old man was diagnosed with a malignant neoplasm, after which he was transferred to a specialized medical institution.

On February 14, it became known that the hockey player left the team and flew to Russia due to his father’s health problems. Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis expressed his support for Ovechkin.
