This Tuesday, Nacional, from Paraguay, and Sport Huancayo, from Peru, faced each other in search of a place in the second phase of the pre-liberators. At the Defensores del Chaco Stadium, the Peruvians took the lead, but conceded three goals and ended up eliminated. With the 3 to 1, the aggregate score was 4 to 2 for the Paraguayans.
With the victory, Nacional will face the Peruvian Sporting Cristal in the second phase of the competition. The first leg will be next Tuesday, at 21:00 (Brasília time), with today’s winners at the helm. The following week, again on Tuesday, the teams face each other again, this time led by Sporting Cristal.
The game
The first big chance of the game happened with 16 minutes of rolling ball. After a corner kick was taken from the right, Juan Barreda, from Sport Huancayo, deflected it into his own goal. Luckily, Donald Millán was on the first post and threw himself on the ball to stop the own goal.
In the 29th minute, Nacional set up a speedy counterattack that the ball reached Feliciano Brizuela, who invaded the area and crossed into the middle. From very close to the goal line, without a goalkeeper, Christian Ocampos arrived to score, but ended up getting it wrong and sending it to the crossbar.
Shortly before the break, Sport Huancayo did not forgive and opened the scoring. At 38 minutes, Millán took a free-kick from the edge of the area and scored a great goal for the visitors to open the scoring.
In the second half, the Paraguayans came back better and managed to turn the game around. A corner was taken into the area in the 16th minute. After a detour, Juan Alfaro, from Nacional, stretched and touched to the second post. Christian Ocampos appeared and headed the back of the net.
The turn came three minutes later. The ball was crossed into the area and ended up at the foot of David Fleitas. With his back to the defense, the attacker noticed the arrival of Roberto Martínez. The number 7 took it at first and hit a beautiful kick placed in the drawer of Sport Huancayo.
The match was coming to an end when Nacional got the classification goal. At 53 minutes, David Fleitas scored and secured the Paraguayans in the next phase.
