On Sunday, Monterosi Tuscia faced away from Giugliano in the 27th round of Serie C (third tier in Italy). In the first half, the hosts made a better impression, but it was the visiting team who took the lead. Rocco Costantino put the ball into the net in the 38th minute.

The midfielder saved a penalty kick in Serie C

In the second half, Monterosi Tuscia focused on defense. The team played well defensively most of the time. In extra time, the visitors made their first serious mistake. Goalkeeper Marco Alia first unsteadily cleared the ball and then fouled an opponent. The referee had no doubts and awarded a penalty kick, and gave Alia a second yellow card. Monterosi Tuscia’s situation became very complicated because the coach had already made all possible substitutions and therefore could not bring on a substitute goalkeeper.

Central midfielder Samuele Parlati stepped between the posts. Francesco Salvemini approached the penalty kick and it seemed that he would have no problems defeating a player who is not nominally a goalkeeper. However, it turned out to be completely different, and Parlati saved his shot. Moments later, his teammates rushed to him with joy.

Parlati’s save was crucial as soon after Monterosi Tuscia scored to make it 2-0 to seal the game. This time, Lorenzo Sorrentino entered the list of scorers. It was a very important victory for Monterosi Tuscia as the team is fighting for relegation. Currently, it is 15th in the table with 30 points. 16. Gelbison has the same number of points, but he lost the direct match. Giugliano is in 11th place with 35 points so far.
