On February 12, Bach criticized the intervention of politicians in the discussion on the admission of Russian athletes to the 2024 Games in Paris. Prior to this, the President of the NOC of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit said that the Ukrainian team could miss the Olympics in Paris if the national teams of Russia and Belarus participate in it. He was supported by the Ukrainian adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak and local athletes.
The IOC is considering the possibility of admitting Russians to the 2024 Games in a neutral status, but there is no final decision on this issue. Competitions in Paris should be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
