Usman Nurmagomedov invited Islam Makhachev to aim for another UFC championship belt
Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) Usman Nurmagomedov on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned) turned to compatriot Islam Makhachev.
The cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov called Makhachev, who defended the title of champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in lightweight, the best fighter on the planet. “It was a great fight, the most competitive fight of Islam’s entire career, but without such competition, there is no growth. Earlier on Sunday, February 12, Makhachev defeated Australian Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision at UFC 284. Thus, the Russian defended the organization’s lightweight title for the first time and will now lead the ranking of the best fighters in the promotion.
In total, in his professional career, Makhachev suffered one defeat and won 24 victories. Volkanovski has 25 wins and two losses.
