Russian speed skater, Olympic medalist Ivan Skobrev revealed the details of the recovery of the Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov. His words leads NTV.
“The exercise therapy doctor is working with him. Can’t really speak. He moves his lips, tries to get up, tosses and turns a little. Oksana (Domnina – wife of Kostomarov – approx. “Tapes.ru”) comes every day, ”said Skobrev, noting that doctors are increasingly bringing Kostomarov to consciousness. He added that it is planned to create a fund to help the athlete.
On February 11, it became known that the emotional state of Kostomarov and his wife had changed for the worse. This happened because the question of the need for an operation to amputate the hands is still open.
On February 9, Channel Five reported that Kostomarov could have his hands amputated due to progressive necrosis. It was noted that doctors are trying to save living tissue on the athlete’s limbs in order to prevent another operation.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in combination with influenza B.
