UFC champion Volkanovski says Islam Makhachev was not as strong in the fight as expected
Australian mixed-style fighter (MMA) Alexander Volkanovski explained the defeat of the Russian Islam Makhachev in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament. His words leads the official YouTube channel of the promotion.
“We all saw that it was not about strength, not about power. It’s all about technique, skill and preparation. He had a weight advantage, it’s foolish to deny. But I didn’t lose because he weighed a little more, ”said the Australian. He added that Makhachev was not as strong as expected.
Makhachev also appreciated the performance of the Australian in this fight. “This is such a small but very tough opponent. I was surprised how prepared he was. I thought everything would be much easier on the floor, ”said the Russian.
