More of 25,000 people face this year the traditional 20 kilometers of the Behobia-San Sebastián in its 56th edition. This year the start will be staggered, dividing the runners into 19 groups and giving each one a different time to start the route. The first group will leave at 09:55, and later the others will follow.
These are all the details of the test route:
Kilometer 1: Exit straight next to the river Bidasoa, totally flat. In the last part, the ascent towards Irun begins.
Kilometer 2: Ascent with little slope towards the center of the city.
Kilometer 3: The slope gets harder as we move away from the center to reach Ventas de Irun, an area of small slides.
Kilometer 4: After passing through the Arretxe peak at kilometer 3.4 (slightly downhill), we already left Irun behind.
Kilometer 5: Downhill. Good time to recover a little, before facing the climb to Gaintxurizketa.
Kilometer 6: Beginning of the climb to the top of Gaintxurizketa. A strong, but short steep slope to access the two-lane road on your left.
Kilometer 7: Main part of the climb to Gaintxurizketa. A 2 kilometer slope at 3% average slope).
Kilometer 8: A few meters to reach the top of Gaintxurizketa and the long descent towards Errenteria begins.
Kilometer 9: Main part of the descent at 3% average slope.
Kilometer 10: Continue the descent and pass through the commercial area of Lintzirin, where the halfway point of the race is reached.
Kilometer 11: Entrance to the outer neighborhoods of Errenteria still downhill. The flattest area of the entire route begins (2 kilometers).
Kilometer 12: Completely flat, arriving at the Alameda de Errenteria.
Kilometer 13: After crossing the entire center of Errenteria, in the last part you face the Capuchinos ascent: a short but serious ramp (450 meters at an average 5% slope).
Kilometer 14: Last -and very hard- meters of Capuchinos and descent towards Pasaia.
Kilometer 15: Small ascent and descent of Buenavista (entrance to San Sebastián).
Kilometer 16: Approach towards the ascent of the Alto de Miracruz through the Herrera neighborhood. One kilometer to prepare for the ascent.
Kilometer 17: Ascent to the top of Miracruz (1.5 kilometers at 3% average slope). At the end of this kilometer a straight descent begins along Avenida de Ategorrieta: We can see the center of the city in the distance.
Kilometer 18: Long descent towards the Gros neighborhood.
Kilometer 19: Avenida de Navarra, slightly uphill. Straight path towards Zurriola beach.
Kilometer 20: Final straight of the test crossing Avenida de la Zurriola. Kursaal Conference Center, Kursaal Bridge and Alameda del Boulevard and arrival at the finish line.
