The game

The match was quite intense and with clear chances for both sides. By playing at home and counting on the support of their fans, RB Leipzig started taking care of the offensive actions and populating the attacking field.

In the 24th minute, midfielder Benjamin Henrichs received the ball on the left, cut it in the middle and hit a beautiful shot, with no chances for goalkeeper Ronnow: 1-0 for Leipzig and the local crowd’s party.

Both teams continued to create chances but were unable to reach the goal. Thus, the match went to the break without further changes in the scoreboard, which was favorable to the Red Bull team.

In the second stage, Union Berlin, who have been having a great season, began to pose more and more danger to Blaswich’s goal. In a corner kick taken in the home team’s area, the ball was deflected and left cleanly for Haberer, who hit a beautiful volley and tied the game.

With the score even and play back and forth, it looked like everything would be resolved in detail. The side that made the least mistakes would leave with the three points. In the 70th minute, Simakan committed a silly penalty by putting his hand on the ball. Knoche went to the penalty spot and saved it. Union Berlin comeback away from home.

The home team even tied the game with striker Poulsen, who entered the second stage, but the goal was annulled by VAR for offside. The bid was heavily questioned.
