Nurmagomedov turned to Makhachev before defending his UFC title
Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov on Instagram (the social network is banned in the Russian Federation; it belongs to the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned) turned to the Russian fighter of the mixed style (MMA) Islam Makhachev before the fight, in which he will defend the champion title of the promotion.
“Forward, brothers,” Nurmagomedov wrote. He attached a photo to the post with Makhachev, Zubaira Tukhugov and coach Javier Mendez.
Makhachev will meet with Australian Alexander Volkanovski on the night of February 12. The fight will take place at lightweight. Thus, the featherweight champion Volkanovski, who currently leads the ranking of the best UFC fighters, will change the category, and Makhachev will defend the champion title for the first time.
In his professional career, Makhachev suffered one defeat and won 23 victories. Volkanovski has 25 wins and one loss.
