Anfisa Reztsova urged to punish Poland for the idea to create a team of refugees from Russians
Three-time Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova appreciated the idea of the Minister of Sports and Tourism of Poland, Kamil Bortnichuk, to create a refugee team of Russian athletes to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Her words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Reztsova called for Poland to be punished for such an idea, believing that Russia should apply to the International Olympic Committee (IOC). “They humiliate us so much that we no longer have strength. What are they? In sports, Poles are nobody at all, ”she said.
On February 10, Bortnichuk suggested creating a refugee team from representatives of Russia and Belarus. He drew attention to the fact that the neutrality of Russian sports is a fiction.
On January 25, the IOC announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. Athletes who did not support the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine and did not violate anti-doping rules will have a chance to get permission to compete in international tournaments.
