The RFU called Mamaev an uncomfortable player

Andrey Sozin, a member of the RFU ethics committee, called Pavel Mamaev an uncomfortable football player

Andrey Sozin, a member of the ethics committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU), commented on the decision of midfielder Pavel Mamaev to end his playing career. His words are quoted by Moscow Speaks.

“With such a character, he is a very uncomfortable footballer. Many are uncomfortable, but still inconveniences are superimposed on vanity, which is not secured by anything, ”Sozin said, adding that he does not regret leaving the midfielder from the sport. He noted that the player ended his career that evening when he broke the law and went to jail.

Mamaev announced his decision earlier on Saturday, February 11. He stated that he was tired and cited the desire to spend more time with his family as one of the reasons for leaving the sport.

34-year-old Mamaev is known for his performances for Torpedo, Rostov, Krasnodar, Khimki and CSKA, with whom he became the champion of Russia and won the Russian Cup three times. From 2010 to 2016, the athlete also played 15 matches for the Russian national team.

In 2018, Mamaev, along with football player Alexander Kokorin and his younger brother Kirill, staged two fights in the center of Moscow. As a result of the incidents, the athletes were convicted and spent almost a year in prison.
