A 500-kilogram milling machine fell from the runway in Hinzenbach. “Chain of Unfortunate Circumstances”

During the preparations for the women’s World Cup competition in Hinzenbach, a dangerous event occurred. A 500-kilogram milling machine for the preparation of the inrun track broke off the handle, rolled down the inrun of the hill and landed on the hill of the facility in Hinzenbach. Workers compacting snow on the landing hill quickly noticed the speeding machine and managed to move away. Apart from the fact that nothing happened to anyone, the landing hill was not damaged by the milling machine either.

The recording of this event was published by the Austrian TV station ORF. Bernhard Zauner, head of the organizing committee of the competition in Hinzenbach, explained to ORF that the milling machine fell from the runway due to a broken safety rope, and in addition “a chain of unfortunate circumstances occurred”. The inrun track in Hinzenbach was not damaged and the incident will be thoroughly investigated in the coming days.

The second women’s WC individual competition in Hinzenbach will take place on Saturday, February 11 at 9:00. Qualifying will start an hour earlier. The report from the competition will be available on Eurosport 1 and in Player.
