Cádiz beat Girona by 2-0, this Friday, in a match valid for the 21st round of the Spanish Championship. The goals of the game that took place at the Nuevo Mirandilla stadium, in Cádiz, were scored by Gonzalo Escalante and Sergi Guardiola.

With the result, Cádiz could breathe in Espanyol. The team reached 22 points and jumped to 15th in the championship. However, they can still return to the relegation zone if Valencia, Sevilla or Espanyol win their games.

On the other hand, Girona remains in 11th place in Espanyol, with 24 points, and can also be overtaken throughout this round.

The two teams only return to the field at the end of next week. Girona faces Almería, next Friday, at 5 pm (Brasília time), at the Montilivi stadium. On the other side, Cádiz faces the leaders Barcelona on Sunday, at 5 pm, at the Camp Nou stadium, in Barcelona.

Cádiz played better, taking advantage of counterattacks and set pieces to bring danger to the visitors. Five minutes into the first half, Gonzalo Escalante kicked hard to open the scoring, after a ball dispute in the area.

In the 33rd minute, on the counterattack, Sergi Guardiola received it from Theo Bongonda and kicked it across to widen the scoreboard and give final numbers to the match.
