FIFA names Messi, Benzema and Mbappe as contenders for 2022 Footballer of the Year Award
The International Football Federation (FIFA) has announced the names of three contenders for the prize of the best player in 2022. This is reported in Twitter organizations.
The shortlist includes striker PSG and the Argentina national team Lionel Messi, his teammate Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, as well as striker Real Madrid and the French national team Karim Benzema. The winner of the award will be announced on February 27 at a ceremony in Paris.
Messi in 2022 for the first time in his career became the world champion together with the Argentina national team. Mbappe with the French team reached the final of the World Cup and became its top scorer. Benzema missed the world championship due to injury.
On February 6, the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) named the best South American players of 2022. Messi is the recipient of the award.
