On January 24, Cezary Kulesza officially announced the new coach of the Polish national team, who was Fernando Santos. The former coach of the Portuguese at the first conference declared that, unlike one of his predecessors, he would live permanently in Warsaw, from where he would be able to cooperate with the Polish Football Association on a daily basis. On Tuesday evening, the 68-year-old flew to the capital with his assistants.

After arriving in Poland, Fernando Santos met with some PZPN employees and had the first talks about the Polish national team. Robert Błoński, journalist of “Przegląd Sportowy” revealed that one of the questions of the former Greek selector concerned Robert Lewandowski’s personal masseur in the frame. Santos revealed that while working for the Portuguese national team, Cristiano Ronaldo had a personal employee in this position, which did not please the 68-year-old coach.
– Does Robert Lewandowski have a personal masseur in the frame?
– He does not have and he did not, and where did this idea come from – the selector heard.
“Because Cristiano Ronaldo had one for Portugal and it wasn’t good,” replied Fernando Santos.
Currently, Fernando Santos is in the process of choosing one of the apartments prepared by PZPN. Soon the 68-year-old will also announce Polish assistants who are to be in the staff of the new coach. In addition, the coach declared that he would go to the upcoming Ekstraklasa matches.
– Coach Fernando Santos is already in Poland and immediately gets to work. In the next Ekstraklasa round, he will watch three matches from the stands: Lechia Gdańsk vs. Widzew Łódź, Wisła Płock vs. Lech Poznań and Legia Warszawa vs. Cracovia.
