Polish customs officers seized rifles from the Ukrainian women’s biathlon team at the border
The Ukrainian women’s biathlon team said that Polish customs officers took away their rifles at the border. They are quoted by the publication Obozrevatel.
The team went to the stage of the Junior Cup of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) in the Estonian Haanja. The Ministry of Sports of Ukraine did not have time to issue a permit for the transportation of equipment, which is why the coaches had only photographs of the document, which the customs did not accept. The national team coaches had to sit at the border until permission was delivered.
As a result, biathletes Valeria Sheigas, Yulia Gorodna, Darina Chalik, Elena Gorodna, Ksenia Prikhodko, Maria Goloboroda did not have time to train and did not get to the start of the IBU Cup sprint.
Russian biathletes miss the season in the international arena due to IBU sanctions. The order will remain in effect until further notice.
