Islam Makhachev’s manager said that the fight against Khamzat Chimaev is unlikely
Rizvan Magomedov, the manager of the Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Islam Makhachev, assessed the likelihood of a duel against the Swede of Chechen origin Khamzat Chimaev. His words are quoted by Sport24.
The Russian team said that this fight is unlikely. “As far as I know, Khamzat moved to a higher weight category,” Magomedov explained and added that there were no personal conflicts between the athletes.
On February 12, Makhachev will fight with Australian Alexander Volkanovski in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The fight will take place at lightweight. Thus, for the first time the Russian will defend the championship title won in October. In total, he has 23 wins with one defeat.
Chimaev won 12 victories in his professional career without suffering a single defeat. In the last fight, he was stronger than the American Kevin Holland.
