Greece opposes boycott of 2024 Olympics if Russian athletes are admitted
In Greece, they opposed skipping the 2024 Olympic Games if Russian athletes were admitted. It is reported by Inside The Games.
“A possible boycott of the Olympic Games will primarily affect athletes who are hard at work preparing to realize their big dream,” said the head of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Greece, Spyros Kapralos. He recalled that Greece has never boycotted the Olympics in the modern history of the tournament, and added that the NOC is against any discrimination against athletes.
On January 26, President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit said that the Ukrainian team could miss the 2024 Olympics if the teams of Russia and Belarus participate in it. Before that, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) noted that they were considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions of Russian and Belarusian athletes.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
