Real beats Al Ahly with goals from Vini Jr and Rodrygo and catches Flamengo’s tormentor in the decision

Real Madrid confirmed their favoritism this Wednesday and defeated Al Ahly in the semifinals of the Club World Cup. Vini Jr, Valverde, Rodrygo and Arribas scored in the 4-1 victory at the Príncipe Moulay Abdellah Stadium, in Morocco, and guaranteed the merengue team in the final of the tournament.

Starting at 4 pm (Brasília time) this Saturday, Real Madrid will face Al Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, to decide the title of Club World Champion. The Saudi team qualified for the final after beat Flamengo last Tuesday, 3-1.

First time

The match started off with little chance, as Real Madrid was adapting to the starting line-up for the first time in the season. Hours before the start of the game, Marco Asensio felt uncomfortable and missed the team. In addition, coach Carlo Ancelotti opted to leave Carvajal on the bench and improvise Nacho on the right wing.

Goal opportunities began to appear from the 16th minute on, when Rodrygo and Vini Jr scored on the left side of the attack, but the young ex-Santos player was stopped at the time of the shot. Rodrygo would have another opportunity in the 22nd minute after receiving a cross from Valverde, but he finished it out.

Al Ahly also took danger in the match, in the 25th minute, in a rehearsed corner kick. After crossing the 2nd post, defender Abdel Monem headed over the post. In the sequence, Rodrygo and Vini Jr missed great opportunities. The Brazilian duo came face to face with the goalkeeper in two situations, but wasted.

After Al Ahly’s mistake in the ball exit, Vini Jr had another chance in front of the goal, but this time he didn’t forgive. The attacker played with the category of “cavadinha” and covered up the Egyptian goalkeeper.

Second time

On the way back from the break, Real Madrid extended the lead. In the first minutes of the final stage, Rodygo was launched and received inside the area. The Brazilian kicked and goalkeeper El-Shenawy palmed it. On the rebound, Fede Valverde was cold to take the mark before sending it to the back of the net.

The game seemed to be heading towards a quiet victory for the Spaniards. However, in the 17th minute of the second half, winger El Shahat took advantage of Real Madrid’s defensive fragility on the left side and suffered a penalty from the improvised winger Camavinga. Ali Maâloul converted the kick and cashed it for the Egyptian team.

With the goal scored, Al Ahly grew in the match and began to put pressure on Real Madrid in search of a tie. Striker Mohamed Magdy received a free cross inside the area and kicked over the crossbar.

In the last minutes, Vini Jr invaded the area and was fouled by the defender. Luka Modric had the penalty saved by goalkeeper El-Shenawy. In the next move, the Croatian midfielder made a great individual play and passed to Rodygo to finish, but the Brazilian sent it out.

In stoppage time, Rodrygo equalized with midfielder Ceballos, who back-heeled for the attacker to “dive” the opposing goalkeeper. Afterwards, midfielder Arribas was left with the surplus in the area and kicked hard to decree the 4-1 victory for Real Madrid over Al Ahly, from Egypt.
