Jabeur advanced to the semi-finals of the WTA tournament in Adelaide. Later, however, she fell out quickly, because already in the second round of the Australian Open. The defeat with the Czech Marketa Vondrousova (89th WTA) was a big surprise. Health problems of the Tunisian could have contributed to the poor result. During the competition in Melbourne, the competitor complained about knee problems. Now she has announced on social media that she will be taking a break from the game. The injury turned out to be more serious and Jabeur will have surgery. As a result, he will miss the upcoming tournaments in Doha and Dubai.

“In order to take care of my health situation, my medical team has decided that I need to undergo a minor operation in order to be able to return to the courts and look good. I will have to withdraw from the tournaments in Doha and Dubai and it breaks my heart. I would like to apologize to all the fans for Middle East who have been waiting for my return, I promise I will come back to you stronger and healthier,” Jabeur wrote on Instagram.
Jabeur’s absence from Doha and Dubai could cost her a drop in the WTA rankings. Last year, she reached the quarter-finals in both tournaments. Currently, the third racket of the world has 5210 points. The other two players are behind her. Jessica Pegula is fourth with 5,000 points and Caroline Garcia is fifth with 4,975.
